Lady Justice Needs To Lose The Blindfold
I just can’t wrap my head around the blatant hypocrisy and the deafening silence surrounding former State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby. Y’all know she’s actively raising young daughters, right?
Whether you like her or love her, you can not deny the defamation campaign being used against a young Black woman who has historically stood in the gap for low-income, overly policed African-American communities.
Is that it? Is there no value, respect, or grace given to a person who commits their life to serve those with less?
Whether we believe she did a great job or not, her fight was always on behalf of those the system never regarded as important in the first place!
Donald Trump led America’s first insurrection since the Confederates went to war to keep their slaves.
Not only were people harmed and historic buildings desecrated, but people were killed… K-I-L-L-E-D…on American soil. This did not happen on a battlefield but on Capital Street.
Marylin Mosby bought a home with her money, and they want her under the jail.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is brazenly running for President with 91 criminal charges.
Honestly, no one has to convince me that Justice is blind because these scales ain’t scaling.
When I was little, I always pointed out the things in the world that “weren’t fair” to my parents. I would protest, “It’s not fair! It’s not fair!”. My father would mock me.
Him: Dionne, if you are looking for fairness in this world, you will be looking for the rest of your life.
Me: <frustrated but determined>
Him: <acknowledging my conviction> Dionne, fairness is not in this world. Fairness is within you.
On days like today, I realize that I’m still looking.
